John Leslie Breck

John Leslie Breck was born in 1860 on the Hong Kong Sea to American parents. He was an impressionist painter known for his landscapes and scenes of everyday life. Breck studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and the Julian Academy in Paris.

John is recognised for his ability to capture atmosphere in his paintings, using a vibrant palette. His works depict landscapes of Massachusetts, Giverny and Venice, demonstrating not only his talent but also his integration into the Impressionist movement.

Unfortunately, his career was short-lived; he died on 1 July 1899 in Paris at the age of 39. Today, John Leslie Breck is remembered as one of the important American Impressionist painters, whose work continues to be appreciated for its sensitivity and technique.
