Equestrian Museum

In this very place, besides being the birthplace of the first Portuguese Cavalry Regiment in Minas Gerais, Brazil, in 1776 — considered the origin of the Military Police of Minas — there also existed the Royal Stud Farm of Cachoeira do Campo, created by Royal Charter in 1819.
It was established following the order of King João VI, who sent Lusitano horses from Alter to serve the troops patrolling the region. These Lusitano horses were later crossed with Sorraia and Crioula mares, giving rise to the Brazilian breeds Mangalarga and Mangalarga Marchador.

Seeking to revive this historic era, Vila Galé created the Equestrian Museum and the Lusitano Equestrian Center, designed for all kinds of equestrian activities — from horse and cattle auctions to riding competitions, featuring a 3,600 m² arena and a round pen, as well as disciplines such as dressage, vaulting, and more.
