Max Slevogt

Max Slevogt was born on 8 October 1868 in Landshust, Germany. He was a painter and engraver associated with the Impressionist movement and is known for his landscapes, portraits and genre scenes. Slevogt studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and was influenced by artists such as Vincent van Gogh and the French Impressionists.

His work stands out for its vivid representation of light and colour, capturing the beauty of nature and everyday life. He often painted his wife and other members of his family. Slevogt also took a strong interest in theatre and worked as a set designer.

During his career, he took part in several exhibitions and became a respected figure on the German art scene. Slevogt died on 20 May 1932 in Switzerland and his legacy lives on through his works, which are valued for their expressiveness and innovative technique.
